ALUNAN DONDANG IRAMA MELAYU (ADIM)

MALAY TRADITIONAL MUSIC ENSEMBLE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF AYUNDA GROUP OF CULTURAL ARTS

Alunan Dondang Irama Melayu or A.D.I.M was officially established on 12 April 2003. Its main objective is to accompany Ayunda Lestari in their dance performances and to give young talents an opportunity to understand and learn about Traditional Malay music.

The first intake of ADIM consists of 5 members and all the members were from Dikir Barat background. With the basic knowledge of music, ADIM began its journey just like Ayunda did with a very humble beginning.

Professional music instructors were then called in to conduct music classes for ADIM. Mr Yaziz, a talented musician from the Orkestra Melayu Singapura, was called in to instruct ADIM.

Following up, Sri Mahligai was invited to conduct music workshops for ADIM. ADIM began learning and getting useful information and tips from whom they consider their mentor – Sri Mahligai.

ADIM has been performing at various organizations and wedding lunch & dinner. This is the stepping stone in which ADIM began to learn and explore its way. Each performance is a learning experience to ADIM. Besides music ADIM is also active in playing kompang for wedding invitations.

Ayunda dance members were also trained to assist ADIM in their music performances giving the opportunity for the members to explore their way in the arts scene.

Up till date ADIM has a total number of 10 musicians, 1 male lead singer and 1 MC.
